Coral bleaching happens because of climate change, the 1998 bleaching was the most sever in the western Indian ocean in some locations the coral declined up to 90%. As well as water pollution takes a role in coral bleaching, because of the poor water quality in lowering thermal tolerance. Coral reefs can recover quickly from bleaching in only a matter of days the coral can retain its color but it takes an overall tole on the coral's health over time.

Way that we can help conserver the coarl reefs are by Take a reef-friendly approach to sun protection. Some ingredients in sunscreen can be harmful to or even kill corals. Inform yourself of safer choices for coral. Better yet, cut down on sunscreen use by wearing a long-sleeved shirt or rash guard to prevent sunburn.

Simple changes that anyone could do to help with conservation with coral reefs is to take public transport to work, buy things without plastic wrap when going to the beach pick up any trash u see because it could end up in the ocean affecting more marine life. Conservating our water is a big plus on helping the coral reef by not using at much water less runoff and wastewater makes it back to the ocean.
